I have suffered with moderate to severe clinical depression for over 30 years. I am 52 years young and now working as a personal and business coach, specialising in helping people and organisations create a more mentally healthy culture. I had to give up my previous job in retail logistics due to my illness 4 years ago. Since then my recovery has started but it is a challenging journey but, nevertheless, a welcome one. I have recently written a book about my illness and those of 10 other people with mental health sufferers. It is called ”Insider:Outsiders – Personal Journeys Through Depression” and includes a chapter from my wife on how it was to live with a depressive and an interesting chapter from a psychotherapist.
I now see my depression as a gift bestowed upon me to give me the purpose in life of helping others.
