My first episode of depression was back in 2002. I was treated with medication but most didn’t work. I went through a phase of ECT treatments which worked for a time but I did have a recurrence of the depression. I never felt like doing anything. I was happy staying home in my dark little cave. I slept a lot and never wanted to see anyone. I never did housework. I ate because I knew I had to but not because I wanted to. I had several friends that would call and check on me but I never wanted to do anything with them. Dr. Gross finally convinced me to give Neurostar TMS Therapy a try because he said it’s your quality of life we are talking about here. After our conversation, I kept thinking back to what Dr. Gross had said. I decided I was willing to try it for the hope that it would improve my quality of life. I called his office a few days later and agreed to start treatments.
I started going through the treatments 5 days a week and after about a month, I woke up one day and didn’t feel anxious or depressed and I began to think it was working. I had more energy and wanted to go out and see my friends. And it only got better from there. After the six weeks of treatment I was back to my old self.
I had 27 treatments with basically no side effects at all. I had a headache after the first treatment but after that I was fine and had no problems with it. I am currently on medication and will continue with it but now I am completely without depression symptoms.
I just started TMS this week and am glad to read how successful the treatment was for you. I am in my 4th year of treatment resistant depression and am experiencing being always sleepy and not doing housework and feeling guilty about it all the time. I look forward to waking up cheerful instead of the dread of another day.
So what I hear you saying is you did the treatment but you still have to take medication for depression. Is it the same medication that you had taken in the past? is it a lower dose of medication? Thank you
